My hair is flat and I don’t have volume. How can I get more volume?

Here are a few tips to add and maintain volume in your hair:

1. It’s important to use a good quality shampoo and conditioner. Poor quality products often contain ingredients like silicone that weigh fine hair down.At Jon 'Ric Express we use Bumble and Bumble products which offer a variety of products based on your hair type.
2. No gel! Heavy hair products like gels can weigh the hair down. A good alternative is a mousse because it is light, and will still give your hair hold.
3. When blow drying your hair, dry your hair in the opposite direction that it grows. Using your fingers to lift the root while blow drying and / or using a round brush will give you maximum results!
4. To finish your style, top it off with a little hairspray
5. At the end of the day, don’t wash your volume away by washing everyday; you’ll love the volume even more the next day!

How do you deal with frizzy hair?

Answer

1. When the hair is damp, use a serum; find a product low pH balance to help close the hair cuticle (outer layer) and with good humidity control
2. With damp hair and products already in, twist small sections of hair and let dry. This will help you to control the curl and reduce the amount of frizz.
3. When styling your hair, avoid excessive brushing and using a fine tooth comb
4. Get your hair trimmed regularly. Trimming the hair helps control split ends that worsen the frizz
