Question

Why does my nail polish come off in 2 – 3days after a manicure?

Answer

Often when polish chips, it’s because a good basecoat is not applied. Some people forget basecoat all together. Also, many nail polish manufactures offer products that are designed for artificial and natural nails, but do not stay on well for natural nails.

SpaRitual offers a basecoat that is specifically formulated to bond nail polish to nails. At Jon ‘Ric Express, we apply 2 coats of basecoat before polish and finish with a topcoat; all designed for natural nails. SpaRitual Tout de Suite Quick Dry top coat actually penetrates and dries all coats of polish quickly with a high gloss UV protective finish.

Question

My nails chip and peel. I can never keep my polish on. Why does this happen?

Answer

When nails are so brittle they peel, poor diet or excessive exposure to water and detergents are usually the problem. Often people make the problem worse by filing the chipped nail incorrectly and do more damage. There are several quick and easy fixes!

  • Soak nails in warm water for a few moments before filing and file from side to center instead of straight across. The warm water softens the nail so it lessens the damage that can be done from filing.
  • Wear gloves when doing dishes and cut your nail exposure to water and detergent.
  • Always keep your nails covered with polish, at least a basecoat. For brittle nails, we recommend SpaRitual’s Nurti-Thick nail builder with calcium. Calcium creates a protective shield to build thick, strong nails.
